Houston Texans to be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks”

The Houston Texans will officially be on HBO’s 10th season of “Hard Knocks”, titled as “HARD KNOCKS: TRAINING CAMP WITH THE HOUSTON TEXANS.”

The season will debut in August and the first episode will be on Tuesday, August 11 on HBO from 10 to 11 p.m. ET. The season will have five hour-long episodes debuting on Tuesdays and the season finale will be on September 8.

If you have never watched a full episode of “Hard Knocks” (like myself), the show displays an exclusive behind-the-scenes look on the team, players and coaches during training camp.

“This is an opportunity to provide a behind-the-scenes look at our team as we prepare for the 2015 season,” says Rick Smith, the Texans’ executive vice president of football operations and general manager.

Multiple story lines go into training camp this season for the Texans, including second year head coach Bill O’Brien, the QB battle between Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett, JaDeveon Clowney’s health, and many more.

But the biggest star attraction HBO will have their eyes set on is the reining 2014 Defensive Player of the Year JJ Watt. What better way to get Watt more star time and publicity than through “Hard Knocks”?

Plus I’m sure no Texans fan and NFL fan has forgotten the intro “Hard Knocks” used for Watt when the 2014 featured team, Atlanta Falcons, came to Houston during their training camp for preseason practices: (:10 second mark)

For those concerned about the show being a distraction to the team and the Texans’ opponents gaining an advantage, don’t worry because Texans founder, chairman and CEO Bob McNair made it clear neither will be a problem. (via John McClain on Twitter @McClain_on_NFL

“It’s not going to be a distraction for us,” McNair said.

“We’re not going to give anyone a competitive advantage.”

There will be a 30-man NFL Flims crew shooting 1,500 hours of footage at Texans training camp, and camera and sound crew will have unlimited access to player and coaches meeting rooms, training rooms and practice fields.

I know I’m not the only one who is extremely excited for not only Texans training camp but also “Hard Knocks” being at camp as well. Going to be awesome watching behind-the-scene exclusives about my team on the Emmy Award winning TV series.
